Subaru Debuts the All-New 2022 Subaru WRX for Los Angeles, CA Residents

With the most advanced features, performance, and design in its nearly 20-year history, Subaru has unveiled its all-new 2022 WRX today. A turbocharged, 2.4-liter Subaru BOXER® engine produces 271 horsepower with a 6-speed manual transmission or a new automatic transmission. This model offers a new generation of EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology and SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system featuring 11.6-inch high-definition touchscreen technology.

WRX is powered by Subaru's Global Platform for the first time, which lowers noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), and increases safety. The 2022 Subaru WRX will be available at Subaru Sherman Oaks come 2022.

Dynamic Performance

As part of the WRX lineup in 2022, Subaru will introduce the BOXER® 2.4-liter turbocharged engine providing 271 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258 ft-lbs of torque between 2,000 and 5,200 rpm. Adding an electronically controlled wastegate and an air bypass valve to the turbocharger improves acceleration and responsiveness. By combining summer performance tires with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and ventilated four-wheel disc brakes, the WRX 2022 delivers its highest levels of dynamic performance and ride comfort in its history.

Exterior Design

The wide-body design of the 2022 WRX offers an aggressive stance and bold new appearance. Its signature hexagonal grille and compact LED headlights to complement the wide and low appearance of the wide and low front hood scoop. Further emphasizing the sports sedan's strength and performance capability are prominent character lines on the vehicle's front, sides, and rear. By making the front fenders of aluminum, the weight of the vehicle is reduced by five pounds. Rear deck lids feature integrated low-profile rear spoilers in the same color as the body. Designed to glow like volcanic magma, rear taillights feature a unique look.

Interior Designed for Drivers

Carbon fiber accents and red contrast stitching throughout the interior draw attention to the car's performance. The high-performance feel increases upon entering the 2022 WRX and grabbing the flat-bottomed, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio, voice recognition, and EyeSight controls. It also includes a 60/40 split fold-flat rear seat and power door locks and side mirrors. 

Advanced Safety Technology

The WRX's stiffened platform produces huge benefits by strengthening mounting points for the suspension and lowering the center of gravity. With less body flex, the vehicle steers and handles better, is quieter and can avoid hazards during emergency situations with greater ease. Similarly, the new model's crash protection is greatly improved, as its body absorbs more energy than its predecessor in frontal and side collisions. There are seven airbags standard in the WRX, including a knee airbag for the driver in the event of an unavoidable crash.
